A quick and painless procedure, ultrasound can be a very effective diagnostic tool. It is a non-invasive procedure in which images of internal organs and structures are taken using sound waves. If your pet needs an ultrasound, we schedule this appointment with a local veterinarian/specialist who uses state of the art equipment. For the ultrasound appointment we ask that you drop your pet off with us for a few hours and pick up after the ultrasound is completed. To better visualize structures and in case a biopsy is indicated, we ask that you fast your pet 12 hours prior to your appointment. Also, if possible a full bladder is best for examination of the urinary system. Your pet will also be shaved in the region being ultrasounded as hair interferes with the ultrasound image.
