Our Team

Dr. Corrine Searle graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon and returned to her hometown of Langley where she enjoyed working at a variety of hospitals until joining our team part time in 2009. Dr. Searle took over ownership of Paws and Claws Animal Hospital on January 1, 2020. She has a passion for general practice medicine where she can focus on in-depth preventative health care. Her desire is to provide the most up-to-date life-stage medical knowledge to our clients for their beloved pets to live longer, happier lives with their families. When not at work Dr. Searle stays active trampolining and swimming with her four kids. She also enjoys her children’s beloved pet rats who like to ride around on everyone’s shoulders.

Dr. Chris Wessell graduated in 2013 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. He joined the Paws and Claws team in June, 2023 and he’s been a welcome addition with his experience and compassionate care. Dr. Wessell grew up in South Surrey, BC and caters to two felines at home: Penny and Eugene. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, gardening, testing out new recipes for dinner, and travelling.

Dr. Ashton Wickramaratne has been part of the Paws and Claws family since 2011 when she worked with us as a brilliant pre-vet student. She then graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 and focused on small animal general practice and emergency medicine. Dr. Ashton is passionate about working together with pet owners on preventative care to keep beloved furry friends happy and healthy. We are so fortunate she is continuing her journey with us! At home, she shares her life with Jack (a feisty Jack Russell–Yorkie mix), Minerva (her spooky black cat), and fondly remembers Artemis, her very special brown tabby now in cat heaven. In her free time, you’ll find Dr. Ashton exploring nature, gardening, doing hot yoga, or playing with clay in pottery class—all while chasing after her adorable little daughter!

Dr. Shaunne Gorrie has been providing veterinary care to our patients since 2018. Dr. Gorrie’s calm, and sweet manner has made our clients appreciate the dedicated and knowledgeable way she takes care of their beloved family members. Dr. Gorrie is now semi-retired and we hope to see her when she’s taking a break from her adventures. We will miss her a lot and wish her the very best!

Jenn is from the Langley area and after graduating from the University College of the Cariboo in 1998, she started providing care to dogs and cats in her home town. Jenn is an immensely kindhearted, knowledgeable, and hard-working Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a special interest in learning and furthering her knowledge of veterinary care. We are thankful for her dedication to our patients since 2003 at Paws and Claws! When not at work you can find Jenn being walked by her Australian Shepherds, Coda and Caity, and camping with family and friends.

Alexis is a Registered Veterinary Technician who graduated from Thompson Rivers University in 2024. With more than six years of experience in the veterinary industry, she brings her strong foundation of knowledge and deep commitment for animal care to the Paws and Claws family. Alexis is passionate about continuing to learn and grow in her role, always looking for ways to enhance her skills and better support her patients. She shares her life with her partner, Steven, and their American Pit Bull Terrier, Kona. When she’s not at the clinic, you can find her camping, heading out on off-road adventures, or spending quality time with family and friends.

Michelle has retired after being a beloved part of our team since 2015, and providing caring supportive high-quality nursing to all her patients. When at home she works hard at keeping her cat Pixie in line (an exercise in complete futility). We miss her and wish her every happiness going forward!

Hannah began her veterinary journey as a Receptionist in 2019, where her passion for helping animals quickly grew, guiding her to a more hands-on position as a Veterinary Assistant. We are so happy Hannah joined the Paws and Claws family in 2025! Her calm compassion pairs well with her desire to keep learning and improve the lives of the pets trusted to our care. Although she is thrilled with small animal practice, she also loves large animals, and is currently an apprentice equine barefoot farrier. When not in the clinic, Hannah is likely wrangling her five furry friends: a chocolate Labrador (Waylon), two cats (Simon + Reba), and two horses (Mac + Shania). Hannah enjoys spending her free time outdoors hiking and camping with her dog, fishing, reading, and singing karaoke.

Kurstin graduated from the Veterinary Office and Animal Care Program at Douglas College in August of 2023. After working in the industry as a Veterinary Office Assistant for a year, she joined the Paws and Claws family in September of 2024. She has always had a love of caring for animals and their families which makes working at Paws and Claws so rewarding for her. Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, painting, thrifting, and spending time with friends.

Janet graduated from the Veterinary Office Assistant program at Granville Business College in 1998. She recently joined the Paws and Claws family after working at another animal hospital for 26 years. She loves every aspect of being a vet assistant but especially enjoys meeting and getting to know our lovely clients and their pets. Janet lives on 5 acres with her husband, 2 boys, 1 dog, 3 cats & 50 chickens. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, growing Christmas trees and a variety of vegetables, collecting eggs and spoiling her entire menagerie!

Gwen has a Bachelor of Arts degree from UBC, and began working with our Paws and Claws team in October of 2009. She is passionate about all aspects of feline behaviour and genetics. She adores our clients and their furry family members and spends her time making them feel welcomed like long-time friends when they walk through the door! When not working, you will find her reading or studying, surrounded by her dear husband Brian and beloved kitties: Faith, Wally, Mac, Ishi, Tilly, and Little Herman.

Petra is an experienced receptionist that joined our team part time in October 2022. Her positive attitude, incredible compassion, and supportive manner, are appreciated by her coworkers and every client she assists! When not at work, Petra loves hanging out with her two cats Winter and Freddy, and taking care of her fish Spike. She also enjoys her time painting, playing video games, and hanging out with her family.

Heidi has retired after being a vital part of the Paws and Claws family for a number of years. Her kindness, helpful attitude, and caring smile will be missed—although you may get lucky to pop by on a day she’s helping out! Thank you for everything, Heidi!
